All figures on this site, including estimated cost per 100 km, estimated weekly, monthly and yearly costs, estimated costs per charge, estimated cost saved versus petrol and estimated break-even rates, are estimates. They are not quotes, offers or actual costs. They are calculated from the inputs you enter and from our assumptions: vehicle energy use (kWh/100 km) from the Green Vehicle Guide or manufacturer data; electricity and public charging prices as at the dates shown; petrol prices from the Australian Institute of Petroleum weekly report as at the date shown; and no extra allowance for charging losses beyond the official test (you can add a real-world adjustment).

Prices include GST unless stated. They exclude supply charges, membership or idle fees, and discounts, unless shown. Your actual cost will depend on your electricity plan, when and where you charge, your driving, the weather and your vehicle. Prices change, so check them with your electricity retailer or charging network before you decide. Prices last reviewed: 11 October 2026.

Not the whole market

We do not compare every electricity plan, charging network or vehicle in the Australian market. Prices for the providers we show are based on published tariffs, network websites and published reports as at the dates shown. Some providers, plans or offers may not be included or may not be available to you. See Methodology for the full list of sources.
